WatchGuard Data Control is an optional module available with WatchGuard EPDR and WatchGuard EDR licenses. It is only available for select European countries. For more information, see Data Control Supported Countries.

Data Control aids compliance with data protection regulations and help you to see and monitor Personally Identifiable Information (PII) stored in your IT infrastructure. It includes three key features:
- Generates a complete, daily inventory of the files with PII found on the network and provides information such as file name and extension as well as the name of the computer where the file was detected. For more information, see Data Control Dashboard.
- Discovers, audits, and monitors the lifecycle of files with PII in real time — from data at rest to data in use (the operations taken on data with PII) and data in motion (data exfiltration). For more information, see About Data Control Indexing.
- Monitors the lifecycle of files with sensitive information through user defined rules. For sensitive information such as confidential files and intellectual property, Data Control does not create an inventory as it does for PII.
- Provides tools to find and delete duplicate personal data files and limit their presence across the network. For more information, see About Data Control Search.

Data Control identifies these data types as PII:
- Bank account number
- Credit card number
- Personal ID number
- IP address
- Email address
- Phone number
- Driver’s license number
- Passport number
- Social security number
- First and last names
- Postal address and ZIP or postal code
